Risk Management & Insurance

Risk management is a core activity for any Rotary Club and is the responsibility for every member.
Good risk management protects the club, its reputation and its members as well as assists in keeping the public safe.  Good risk management is also important in meeting the requirements of our insurance as well as addressing a number or regulatory requirements.
Clubs are required to undertake a risk assessment of all of the activities they carry out.  This involves:
  • Identifying all hazards associated with your event or activity
  • Assessing the likelihood and consequence of the identified hazard occurring
  • Controlling the hazard to minimise or eliminate its impact and likelihood.
Common risk and hazards include:
  • BBQ operations
  • Use of Ladders
  • Manual handing / lifting heavy objects
  • Slip, trips and falls
  • Heat stress
  • Electrical devices & Cords
  • Food preparation and Hygiene
It is the expectation of the District and its insurers that every club complete the following forms for each club event/activity (note if you are running an event multiple times during the year, you only need to complete these form once each year):
  1. Insurance Proforma
  2. Rotary Basic Checklist for an event form
  3. Rotary Risk Management Form
For more high risk or complex/unique activities, consideration should be given to preparing a more detailed risk assessment of the activity.  The District Risk Officer, Belinda King, may be able to assist you with this.
These forms should be returned to
In addition, if cover is sought for any Rotary related travel, details are required to be provided by District Insurance Officer prior to the travel being undertaken.
