The Rotary Foundation · Sustained, exemplary service
Distinguished Service Award
Recognising exceptional service to The Rotary Foundation, sustained beyond earlier recognition.
About the award
The Distinguished Service Award is The Rotary Foundation’s highest service award. It recognises exemplary service to the Foundation over an extended period.
A nominee must have received the Citation for Meritorious Service at least four years earlier. The nomination should show the breadth, depth and continuing impact of the person’s Foundation service, particularly since that citation.
Build the case around contribution
Explain how the nominee helped Foundation work succeed, developed others or strengthened service beyond an individual project. Use evidence of active service and outcomes; personal donations are not the basis for selection.
Preparing a nomination
Start with the District Rotary Foundation Chair and District Governor. Confirm the date of the earlier citation, read Rotary’s service criteria and arrange the required endorsements.
Describe the member’s continuing service, including their work since receiving the Citation for Meritorious Service. Follow the current nomination form for the supporting information and endorsements needed.
